Mike RusselName: Mike Russel

Current position: Associate Dean of Campus Life and Dean of the Class of 2009

Years at TCU: 12

Education:
B.S., Colorado State University
M.Ed., University of Vermont
MBA, Texas Christian University

I grew up in Colorado and completed my undergraduate degree at Colorado State University. Following graduation, I left to explore other regions of the country for a few years. That was nearly 25 years ago. I lived and worked Burlington, Vermont and Columbus, Ohio before moving to Fort Worth.

A few things I like to do: Most of my spare time is spent with my family although I've recently committed to return to a more regular exercise regiment; it would be foolish not to take advantage of the world-class athletic facility at TCU. Prior to starting our family, I was a regular handball player and am looking to start playing again soon.

Advice for the Class of 2009: I have four pieces of advice to help you through your first year at TCU: 1) get to know your professors and other staff members at the University as soon as possible; 2) attend class regularly; 3) get involved in at least one other activity (but not too many) outside of classes to broaden your experience; and 4) spend time getting to know your classmates in ways that doesn't involve partying or chatting via phone or computer.

As the Class Dean of 2009, I would like to help in anyway I can. My email is m.russel@tcu.edu and my office phone number is 817-257-7926.
